Join South Charlotte Partners and top community leaders for a pivotal discussion on the future of transportation and mobility in South Charlotte.

Transportation and mobility are crucial drivers of economic growth and quality of life for the businesses, residents and communities of South Charlotte. As the region continues to evolve, South Charlotte Partners is excited to convene an impactful discussion with key state and local leaders to explore the current landscape and future vision for transportation in the area.

This high-profile event will provide a platform for strategic dialogue and collaboration on shaping the region’s mobility future. We’ll also be celebrating former Charlotte Mayor Vi Lyles for her vision and leadership.

This Year’s Program

  • A fireside chat with David Howard, chair of the newly formed Metropolitan Public Transportation Authority that governs public transportation in Mecklenburg County.
  • A panel moderated by WFAE Executive Editor Ely Portillo featuring NCDOT Board of Transportation Chair Tony Lathrop, Western Deputy Chief Engineer Brett Canipe and District 10 Engineer Felix Obregon.
  • Tony Mecia, editor of The Charlotte Ledger, moderating a discussion on the politics of transportation with Charlotte City Council member Ed Driggs and Mecklenburg County commissioners Susan Rodriguez-McDowell and Leigh Altman.
  • A look at Charlotte's multi-billion-dollar transportation plan, funded by the 1 percent sales tax increase approved by voters last fall.
  • Ashton Watson, director of engineering for Charlotte Douglas International Airport, on CLT's impact on regional economic development.
